My purpose of visit to Karnali is not religious at all. I just wanted to pass my sunday evening at a cool, place near to nature and of course near to Vadodara so, I choose Karnali. But, people from all walks the life throng to Karnali on every amas (i.e. last day of a month according to Indian calender).Most people came here to offer post death rituals. But many more came here to offer worship to Kuberbhandari who happens to be the treasurer of all god and goddesses. There are very rare temples of Kuber bhandari in India and particularity in western India. People believes that as Kuberbhandari prospers the gods he will do the same magic for us also. They offer different kind of rituals, take oaths and resolve to come here on every amas for certain years.
But, there are people like me who come here to just have a glimpse of natural beauty. I think I have an affection about Narmada River. Narmada just enthralls me every time. I just went to another bank bye a boat. I took a dip also in the river. So many people , including women , came here to take a dip in this holy river.
I think this pollution should be stopped. Narmada is a big river but not as big that this kind of pollution is absorbed. That day there were only few hundreds people but, what would be the level of pollution when lakhs of people throngs here on certain days of year. This could be true also for Chanod and Nareshwar also. I think there is no need of diesel boats to just cross the less then one km path of the river.
